Celebrating Arbor Day: 4/25
Last fall, our district received a grant from the NYS Urban Forestry Council to plant two new trees at Ray. On Arbor Day, council members came to Ray and engaged students in the planting process by sharing information and educating students on different arborist topics. Students had a great time during the event, and the two new trees look great!
Mental Health Wellness Presentation: 15 For Life
May is mental health awareness month, celebrated district-wide (see image below). On Friday, May 16th, 7th grade students will participate in a mental health wellness presentation led by Mr. Doug Jackson, Ray PE teacher at Ray. The focus of the presentation will be on understanding personal struggles with depression and mental health challenges, and how to identify trusted contacts when one is in need of support. If you have any questions or want to know more, please reach out to your student’s guidance counselor. Thank you Mr. Jackson for your leadership and support of our students!
Special Champions Day: Monday, 5/19
Students from the entire district will meet Monday on the main campus for games, competition, fun, and celebration (previously held event). Each school has a color, and Ray will be wearing gray. All students are encouraged to wear something gray to show support. We will also hold a brief “welcome back” ceremony when students return from the event.
PTA Family Kickball & Cookout: June 4th
The PTA is excited to host the first annual Family Kickball and Cookout event for current Ray students and families on Wednesday, June 4th, from 6:00-8:00 PM. Drill Notification: Emergency Evacuation 5/21
On Wednesday, May 21st, all students and staff at Ray Middle School will practice our building emergency evacuation drill. We will be staging all students and staff at a location away from the building. This is an important practice drill so we are prepared if there ever is a structural threat to our building. Teachers will review our protocols with students before the drill so they are informed and prepared.
